Yup. You read it.

Some of you might have been wondering why our road-trip map ended abruptly in Las Vegas instead of circling back in Chicago. We are officially traveling to India, specifically Bangalore, India, to photograph a wedding March 6th and 7th. Thank you so much to Aditya and Nichole for this amazing opportunity to photograph your Indian wedding.  Your wedding is going to be a blast!

We will be leaving our dear little Toyota in Las Vegas, and we will see her again a few weeks after we get back to Chicago.

Announcement 3- Photography Road Trip across America

Written by , Posted in personal, Travel

Roadtrip photography adventure Healthy Lifestyle change chicago Photographer_0002

Ok, so this photo kind of goes with that New Year’s resolution I mentioned to allow Jason, a wonderful lifestyle photographer/husband extraordinaire to actually take photos of me.  All of you who tell us that you have a hard time getting your photo taken, trust me, I feel you! Why do you think that I’m always the one behind the camera!? To avoid my photo getting taken like the plague.

So, besides that, I am excited to say that we are leaving on a photography road trip across America next week!!! It’ll be filled with photoshoots,, couples, families, meetings with other photographers, and lots of editing.  (Honestly, I think we are the only people who are nuts enough to bring two 27″ iMacs on the road cross country.) So if we are driving by where you live, give us a holla!

We’ve been working on a new addition to our business- our Lifestyle Photography page, thefinches.photo,  with photoshoots from the past months. The new website is coming soon.

Here is where we are headed!

Memphis, TN      January 30

Travel in Central America- Honduras

Written by , Posted in Travel

This is our last travel post, I promise- then back to our bride’s amazing weddings. 🙂
Copan Ruinas in Honduras was amazing, we were also glad we had a chance to stop by the Macaw Rescue Sanctuary near the ruins. Birds are rescued from all over Central America, and the people there work to put them back into their natural habitat, mostly the Macaws, who hang out at the tops of the trees at the Copan Ruinas not too far from the Sanctuary. A large part of their mission is to not only rescue the birds, but to also educate people that birds are a lifetime commitment.
At Copan, we had the most amazing tour guide, Sergio, who is a retired excavator- so he knew all of the ins and outs of the site. The ruins, at one time were painted white and red- an entire city underground in vivid color. You can still see it on some of the statues at the site.

Though we didn’t get to visit Panama, their cityscape is AMAZING- I was quite thankful we had our connecting flight there and were able to view Panama City from afar.

Central America- Guatemala

Written by , Posted in Travel

We didn’t get to spend nearly enough time as we would have liked, but the 48 hours we had in Guatemala was wonderful. The bus took us from Belize City to Flores. Honestly, we didn’t read up on Flores before we arrived. Turns out, it is an amazing colonial village on an island in the middle of a lake.
After spending the day in Flores, we went on to Antigua, another gorgeous colorful city. Antigua’s markets had beautiful circular kites which they fly for their kite festival every autumn.
I wish we were able to spend more time here, but Copain Ruinas in Honduras was high on our list. Cheers to 48 hours in Guatemala!

Travels in Central America – Belize

Written by , Posted in Destination, Travel

Out of our entire trip, we got to spend the most time in Belize.  My friend Livia, whom I’ve known since preschool lives in Belize with her wonderful husband, Andrew (Preschool! yikes!) They reside on the wonderful tiny island of Caye Caulker- where they own and run a golf cart rental business. Check it out if you are there!
We were able to visit quite a few wonderful places on the mainland before heading to Caye Caulker. From ancient ruins, to amazing beach towns.
Soo.. on another note- you know how tropical islands usually only have bright vivid colors? Well, it’s because all of the local hardware stores only offer a limited “tropical” color palette. Mystery solved. 🙂 2013-07-03_0035 2013-07-03_0036 2013-07-03_0037 2013-07-03_0038 2013-07-03_0039 2013-07-03_0040 2013-07-03_0041 2013-07-03_0042 2013-07-03_0043 2013-07-03_0044 2013-07-03_0045 2013-07-03_0046 2013-07-03_0047 2013-07-03_0048 2013-07-03_0049 2013-07-03_0050 2013-07-03_0051 2013-07-03_0052 2013-07-03_0053 2013-07-03_0054 2013-07-03_0055 2013-07-03_0056
