Oh man, be prepared with film family photography session adorableness with Jenn, Alex, and a little bundle of joy. We had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful new family. World, meet Baby M.
Seriously guys- she’s going to be a model. <3 For Jennifer and Alex’s film family session, we met them at their beautiful house- which they are now the proud owners of. Ah! It was a busy month for Alex- turning 30, becoming a dad, and closing on a house! Busy month indeed.
Jenn and Alex had their film family session when baby M was just a week old, and had 5 days of getting acclimated to her surroundings at home with mom and dad (and Lilah! Baby M’s furry older and just as wiggly sister.) Lilah stole the show for a bit too, the sweetest most well behaved doggie ever.
Jennier and Alex had simple, organic natural light photos for their film family session in Grand Rapids, MI. Their amazing plant filled sun-room had the most amazing light to photograph their baby girl. We like to focus on the family themselves, keeping it simple and without props for family sessions. So that they can remember exactly how it was. And with this adorable bundle of joy, it was so incredibly wonderful. Jennifer and Alex are some of the warmest hearted people I’ve met.
Super congrats on your growing family you two! Thank you for letting us shoot your film family session, it was an honor. I hope that the 3 of you (and Lilah too!) are having an awesome first summer together!
We like to shoot family mini-sessions primarily on film, and I want to thank The Find Lab for always being amazing at developing anything from our Contax 645.
Deanna and John have the best story of how they met yet- via theonion.com !! Not only America’s finest news source, but an excellent dating site as well.
The first time we met John and Deanna, John brought his scooter along, along with the second time. As it turned out, John was heading the same way as us, on his way to a cake tasting with Deanna. However, we didn’t figure that out until 3 miles later when we saw John zooming down the street on his scooter- at seemingly record speeds! Makes me rethink my wobbly blue 1952 Schwinn Beach Cruiser. The cake tasting you ask? We hear was delicious- but more of a test to see if the frosting will be able to match the amazing detail work on the side of the Marriott- but more on that later. 🙂 In the meantime, a bit about the Greenmill cocktail lounge shots- we’ll just say that John and Deanna’s first date was there, unlike some restaurant’s down the street where people’s biased tastebuds recommended the joint to Deanna. 😉
John and Deanna are set to be married in just under a month, at the Nikko Room at the O’hare Marriott. The Nikko Room? An amazing tiki room of course, dating back to the times when business meetings had more thrill than bland convention rooms. The interior looks amazing! Alas, unfortunately there seems to be more of a demand for the convention centers, because the Nikko room is set to be demolished in early June- making John and Deanna’s event the end of an era- so to speak.
And! Ending this era is going to go down in style. Style going along with the Nikko Room’s era fabulously- from John’s gator shoes, to Deanna’s dress. And! Back to the cake, you have to wait and see!! The detail work is going to be amazing!! What can I say- I’m biased towards texture. 🙂
Meet the adorably beautiful little Sylvia!! She was just 15 days old for her newborn baby photography session when we had the opportunity to get photos of her. Amanda and Dan are so lucky and proud to have the most lovely and low key little baby. Amanda says she gets her relaxed attitude from Dan. AND! We were so incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to be the first people to meet her outside of Amanda and Dan’s immediate family. Not too many people even believed that Sylvia cries- well, we have a few photos for proof. 🙂
Baby Sylvia was born a delightful 7 lbs 12 ounces on April 5th. And- Miss Amanda even had a bit of time to spare to Facebook during child birth. Excellent, Amazing, Beautiful indeed. I love the love in all of there shots hanging out with these two ladies this morning. Can’t even put it into words. Congrats Dan and Amanda. What a beautiful family!
The ‘sadface’ shot is one of my favorites. 🙂
With spring in full effect in Chicago, we had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Jennifer and David for their Chicago engagement photography session. Downtown had an amazing glow to it from the puddles in the sidewalk. Which made for a fantastic warm effect. Jennifer and David took the train into town from Portage, IN- where the two lovely love birds met. David is super nice, works at one of the local Universities and Jennifer is an Art teacher for the Elementary level. These two were lucky to meet when they did, because Jennifer was about to sign a lease in Hyde Park and ready to make the commute to school just so that she could live in fabulous Chicago! Good timing indeed. 🙂
Jennifer and David are getting married in the sunny and fabulous California!! Best of all, it’s going to be on Ventura Beach, near David’s family. It will be excellent, family style and fun. Who knows- perhaps they will stay down there in warm and sunny California. Oh the temptation. Especially since they are planning making a move next summer- off to greener pastures. We would love to visit!
Gah! I cannot get enough of this guy! He’s so cute! I don’t know what I would do without Jason. Seriously, he drives me to reach my fullest potential, he always makes coffee in the morning, he makes sure my camera battery is charged- and all of the other fun important stuff. 🙂
AND- on top of it all, he is so so patient- and helpful. Later this summer Jason will be going to Guatemala for two weeks for a bit of cultural immersion, volunteering at a children’s home, and sightseeing. Oh I’m going to miss him! Stay tuned for blog posts with Lake Atitlan, San Lucas Mission, Payaca Vulcan, Antigua, city markets, beaches, dancing and loads of other stuff. I have to admit, I’m a bit jealous.
And another chance to put a new pin on the map. So excited for this summer! Hopefully our place won’t have 30 projects spread around throughout as so I can keep myself occupied while he is away. 🙂
