Wooo! We have officially started to offer wedding VIDEO!
I have a newfound respect for wedding videographers- it’s a really fun process.
We are excited to begin offering this for our couples- I’m a huge fan of movies and composition, and this is something I always wanted to get into. Figuring it just makes sense to start offering video along side photo, since we both work together so well already and have been photographing weddings together since 2010.
We had the pleasure to capture Sam and Mike’s wedding at The Armour House at Lake Forest Academy. The Armour House is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is a 29,000 square foot Italian style villa. They accommodate up to 260 guests for events and weddings. Couples can have both their ceremony and reception there. The outdoor space they have to offer it makes for an incredible ceremony and cocktail hour.
What an extraordinary location and couple to start off at for our first film. Sam and Mike actually met while attending Lake Forest Academy as students! So, it just made sense for them to have their wedding there as well.
Below is just a short teaser from our first wedding film.
If you’re looking for a photographer or videographer or BOTH, then please contact us.
We took a day trip over to Nara so that I could experience the ever amazing Mochi man- the fastest Mochi pounder in the world! Aaaand it was an excuse to cheat on my diet and try some of his amazingly warm and gooey green tea/red bean mochi. It was phenomenal.
I can even begin to explain the amount of joy this action shot gives me. And the fact that I was able to capture it on 120mm film… it was… oh what’s the word for it? Ah- yes, a serendipitous moment. 😀
We started off taking the train from Kyoto over to Nara- which is where the famous mochi place is- and AND! There is also a giant park where you can feed the deer cookies. It was the best.
The deer also do tricks- if you bow to them, they bow to you for cookies. Yep- these wild deer know what’s up. That’s Jason in the middle of receiving a bow back… and in the blurry forground you can see a deer butt in the midst of pestering me and trying to get into my pockets for some deer cookies.
So something else I learned is that deer antlers are actually kinda squishy- and super sticky! I had no idea.
Here’s another shot of the mochi guys. The name of the Mochi shop is Nakatanidou and it’s on the Sanjo Dori road.
And here is a link to a video about them in case you guys are a bit curious. 🙂
Aaaand after our afternoon in Nara, we hopped on a train to Osaka to have some sushi and wander around a bit more before hopping on a train back to our Airbnb in Kyoto. (The JR Pass, I’m telling you, is awesome.)
And blogpost season begins!!! I’ve been in the midst of working on Megan and Patrick’s album, so I couldn’t help but share some photos online from their awesome sauce wedding. Megan and Patrick had a Hyatt Lodge at Mcdonald’s Campus wedding in Oakbrook. The scenery, guests, weather, details, overall vibe, and everything was picture perfect (zing!) And I was really digging Megan’s florals and bouquet- created by Ipomea Floral Design.
Before Megan and Patrick’s Hyatt Lodge at McDonald’s Campus wedding, the guys got ready at the hotel and Megan and her ladies got ready at Megan’s parents’ house, which was also the location of their post Chicago wedding ceremony/pre cocktail hour VIP cocktail hour. 😀
Oh oh! And they also had Irish Dancers from the school Megan and her friends danced at. It was amazing to watch! I included some of those photos after the cocktail hour.
Ok, anyway- enough of my babbles. You can scroll and check out the loveliness that is Megan and Patrick’s Hyatt Lodge at Mcdonald’s Campus Wedding for yourselves.
Here is the lovely backyard VIP wedding party I mentioned earlier. 🙂 Just before we headed off to their Hyatt Lodge at Mcdonald’s Campus Wedding location.
And we are officially onsite for their Hyatt Lodge at Mcdonald’s Campus Wedding. Woo! Check out Megan and those dapper dudes.

We had the opportunity Jordan and Justin’s Blumen Gardens Wedding in Sycamore. Jordan and Justin are so incredibly sweet! Ah! And Blumen Gardens has the most lovely outdoor wedding space. We feel so blessed to have met these two. Even with Chicago’s unpredictable weather, this summer wedding season, we always are fans of outdoor wedding ceremonies. I love how personalized outdoor ceremonies are and hands down we love photographing wedding ceremonies outside.
Blumen Gardens has the most wonderful rustic and charming outdoor ceremony space, and it’s not too far from Chicago. Jordan and Justin actually got ready in Naperville, before heading to Sycamore for their wedding. Jordan chose to get ready at her parents’ house, because it’s close the her and Justin’s new apartment, and perfectly on the way to Sycamore. I love it when people get ready at their parents’ house because it adds a lovely personal touch to their wedding day. 🙂
Ok, more jabber later- here are the photos from their Blumen Gardens Wedding.
Ah Jordan, you’re so lovely!!
Jordan’s parents’ house was so pretty. Here’s the ladies in front of the side garage. 🙂
And on to Jordan and Justin’s first look! We stopped by Herrick Lake Forest Preserve on our way to their Blumen Gardens Wedding.
And we made it to their Blumen Gardens Wedding venue! No traffic and just in time. 🙂 You guys, everything is a photo op here. <3
This shot that Jason took is my personal favorite from Jordan and Justin’s Blumen Gardens Wedding ceremony. Jordan is a huge fan of Black and White photos, so we made sure to include extra and even shot a couple of rolls of film in black and white as well. <3
Shhh… sometimes film can be blurry… I like to call it dreamy. #dreamyjustmarried
Yay! When we are outside of Cook County, we actually get to experience the signing of a marriage license. Thank you you guys for having us a part of your wedding day. I am so happy that the weather was amazing and that you got to have an outdoor ceremony with all of your friends and family. It was like a fairytale! (A fairy tale with a mesmerizing amount of photo ops).

Hurray! Katie and Josh are having their A New Leaf wedding this weekend! Here are a few photos from their engagement session. We started off at North Avenue Beach at sunrise- and headed down to Millenium Park for the rest of the session. The only time we ever take photos at The Bean is for sunrise engagements, so that way people are able to have that spot to themselves. Or… mostly to themselves- there were already about a dozen people at the Chicago bean for sunrise! Crazy!
After the bean, we wandered up Millennium Park towards the river. Every inch of that area is an engagement session photo op! Especially when you have the city to yourself. We had the most amazing light by the Wrigley Building next to the river. Ah! All of these sunrise engagement sessions make me want more. I’m now kind of addicted to this magical light.
Thank you guys for braving the early hours with us! Can’t wait for your wedding day at A New Leaf!!
