Kelsey and Dave’s wedding is so incredibly refreshing and delightful. I mean, one of their colors are Yellow- which I love! They had a Ravenswood Event Center Wedding in Chicago, with their ceremony at St. Vincent DePaul Parish over on Sheffield. Bear with me you guys, I have to post a gazillion photos from their wedding because it was hard to chose which wedding moments were my favorite.
Kelsey and Dave met while attending DePaul- Dave actually worked at Kelly’s Pub, which is conveniently across the street from their St. Vincent DePaul ceremony. Dave was the bar tender and door guy, and Kelsey was smitten (as Dave would like to put it). Kelsey likes to think of it in the sense that they simply met at DePaul’s School of Education where Kelsey attended classes and Dave was the TA.
Speaking of smitten, Kelsey’s dad was smitten when he saw all of the beautiful cars for Ravenswood Event Center Wedding walk-through. That space was officially meant to be! And how could it not be?! Every floor is beautiful in it’s own right- cars, timber frames, floor to ceiling glass space? Heck yes!
Okay, I’ll stop babbling now so you guys can see their Ravenswood Event Center Wedding. The ladies got ready at the Westin Chicago River North.
Ah! Some of the views of the Chicago river at the Westin are breathtaking. I feel really lucky to be able to experience these places on a weekly basis.
Since we had the time, we had to do a first look with dad- the car guru. He’s a super sweet guy. I was a big fan of his wedding thank you toast.
We snapped a few extra rolls with the Contax645, with this light and her beautiful dress- how can you not.
Kelly’s Pub! The place they met!
Kelsey and Dave’s neighborhood of Roscoe Village. I didn’t know that this wonderful sign on the Metra existed until a month before their wedding when Kelsey asked if we can stop there on the way to their Ravenswood Event Center Wedding reception.
Ahh! Thank you so much you guys for having us apart of your big day.

Oh man, be prepared with film family photography session adorableness with Jenn, Alex, and a little bundle of joy. We had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful new family. World, meet Baby M.
Seriously guys- she’s going to be a model. <3 For Jennifer and Alex’s film family session, we met them at their beautiful house- which they are now the proud owners of. Ah! It was a busy month for Alex- turning 30, becoming a dad, and closing on a house! Busy month indeed.
Jenn and Alex had their film family session when baby M was just a week old, and had 5 days of getting acclimated to her surroundings at home with mom and dad (and Lilah! Baby M’s furry older and just as wiggly sister.) Lilah stole the show for a bit too, the sweetest most well behaved doggie ever.
Jennier and Alex had simple, organic natural light photos for their film family session in Grand Rapids, MI. Their amazing plant filled sun-room had the most amazing light to photograph their baby girl. We like to focus on the family themselves, keeping it simple and without props for family sessions. So that they can remember exactly how it was. And with this adorable bundle of joy, it was so incredibly wonderful. Jennifer and Alex are some of the warmest hearted people I’ve met.
Super congrats on your growing family you two! Thank you for letting us shoot your film family session, it was an honor. I hope that the 3 of you (and Lilah too!) are having an awesome first summer together!
We like to shoot family mini-sessions primarily on film, and I want to thank The Find Lab for always being amazing at developing anything from our Contax 645.
Ah! This day warms my heart (which is good- because it was cold out!) Evan planned an amazing surprise Chicago Proposal at Hotel Lincoln on the rooftop. The surprise was in three stages. (I know right!) Ah! Okay, sorry- I’m calming down. It just all worked out so perfectly. Since it was cold out, there were not as many people on Hotel Lincoln Chicago proposal on the rooftop, which meant that we had a run of the place.
We met with Evan before the proposal day, and he explained his 3 stage plan to us. First, the proposal. Second- a surprise visit from both sets of parents. And! You’ll have to scroll down and wait for the 3rd one. 🙂
First, let’s begin their Hotel Lincoln Chicago proposal surprise on the rooftop. The rooftop is called J Parker. A bit of history- J Parker was the unreliable cop on duty the night that Lincoln was assassinated. Much of Hotel Lincoln’s naming schemes have a ton of history involved- which is super cool! Okay, off of that tangent, and on to Evan and Pamela’s proposal!!!
AHHH! She said Yes! Best Chicago proposal at Hotel Lincoln ever!
Clever name time again! The Booth that Pamela and Evan are sitting on is called The John Wilkes Booth. Clever indeed.
Congrats you two! I hope that your first month of being engaged was amazing so far, and have a great engaged summer. Thank you so much for having us a part of your surprise Chicago proposal at Hotel Lincoln.
Meet Becky and Zack. They were willing to wake up for a sunrise Chicago engagement session with us. Crazy troopers, I tell you.
My eyeballs feel like burning needles when I wake up this early, but every time I get to witness the sunrise, I’m grateful for actually waking up. It’s like you have the whole city to yourself for a sunrise Chicago engagement session.
Not to mention- Becky’s laugh is contagious. These two lovelies are having their wedding festivities at the Cityview Loft here in Chicago. Though we wont be waking up early like for the sunrise Chicago engagement session, it’ll be amazing light no matter what at that venue. 🙂
We stopped by the first apartment, which happens to be right down the street from where they currently live. And I was Jones-ing for some symmetry. 🙂 These two are so cool.
After that, we headed to their current place, and had some puppy engagement session time.
Okay- sooo the righthand image below is one of my favorite things ever. Every time I see it, it just cracks me right up. Attack of the flying puppy!!!
…the sweetest flying puppy. 🙂 Becky and Zack are the absolute best. Lets finish it off with their back entry stairwell. <3 So excited for your Cityview Lofts wedding this fall!! Thank you so much for waking up for a sunrise Chicago engagement session with us. xoxo
One of my favorite parts of meeting Shannon and Alex was Alex’s excitement for having balloons for their NYC Lighthouse Wedding. (Insert delightful squealing here… by myself, not Alex)
Shannon and Alex wanted to have a brunch wedding, and what better than a floor to ceiling window lit space at the NYC Lighthouse Wedding space. The Lighthouse is located at Pier 61, which is a part of Chelsea Piers. Whew- that location was a bit of a mouthful. OH! Speaking of mouthfuls, the catering for the NYC lighthouse wedding was delicious and oh so pretty! They had a hors d’oeuvres station setup of perfect little bites. Not to mention, the were very photogenic, and I dig photogenic food.
Ok, now down to the nitty gritty- my Achilles heel… Which was the detail at their NYC Lighthouse wedding which Shannon was most Excited about- HER SHOES! They have wings! GOLDEN WINGS! Sorry guys, it’s just that I couldn’t get enough of them. Shannon chose to have Sophia Webster shoes for her wedding. Oh, and her dress! Shannon chose a light blue/lavender lining of her Maggie Sottero Londyn dress and Alex hunted down a tie to match the lining. It turned out beautiful! It was a super unique wedding dress idea… and one which I hope will become more popular because it turned out lovely. (Especially with those heels!) Now, onto their NYC Lighthouse wedding ceremony.
Shannon’s Mom and Sister’s pro-tip for getting the dress on: loop the buttons on with knitting needles!
This wonderful man is the bagpiper for Alex and Shannon’s Lighthouse ceremony. Michael Hannigan, bagpiper of New Jersey extraordinaire!
Balloon wedding! 🙂
And bags! Alex and his dad handmade their corntoss boards. 🙂 Gotta love a NYC lighthouse wedding.
After their NYC lighthouse wedding, we went on to their wedding after party! Shannon and Alex maximized the merriment by inviting all of their friends and family to join them at their favorite bar in NYC. Highlands is amazing- they are on point with their cocktail knowledge and make a mean Penicillin Cocktail.
Alex and Shannon, your details were amazing! Thank you for having us a part of your big day.
