Eeek! I’m so excited to show you guys Erica and John’s Cafe Brauer wedding!
It was our first wedding of the 2016 season. We couldn’t have started our Chicago wedding photography year with a nicer couple for their Cafe Brauer wedding. Erica and John were/are awesome! We ventured were outside in March for their photos and they were such troopers to brave the chilly weather right on Lake Michigan. I’m glad that the bridesmaids had long dresses on – thanks Jenny Yoo! We were all filled with warm thoughts, good vibes, and love, which helped keep us all warm.
Erica and John had their wedding festivities at the historic Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park. It is an amazingly beautiful space made by Perkins & Hamilton in a Prairie Style architecture. It is one of our favorite spots in the Chicago to photography.
Erica’s bouquet, the bridesmaid’s dresses, and all of the other details mimicked the lavender and prairie green in Cafe Brauer Wedding’s space. We started the day off at Hotel Lincoln– which is conveniently close, FILLED with Mid Century Modern furniture and amazing antiques, which are all locally sourced. Anything mid-century modern and vintage warms my heart. We also took a trip to the roof to Hotel Lincoln’s – The J. Parker.
Checkout the photos from their big day below.

Not everyone can pull off a crazy beautiful wedding reception when the setting is where they went to high school- but then again, not everyone went to high school in an epic Harry Potter/Hogwarts/Marble Epicness/ landscape of amazment/jaw droppingly beautiful bit of architecture. Phew. Yes- but Carlee did go to school on a beautiful Chicago campus. So hence, why Carlee and Jeff decided to have a St Ignatius Wedding, at St. Ignatius’ Tully Hall in Chicago. Keep scrolling for beautiful green goodness.
Carlee and Jeff had their wedding ceremony at St. Daniel the Prophet, officiated by a family friend. But now, onto everyone getting ready at the Hilton downtown- conveniently located next to a wonderful colorful tiled wall. 😉 Oh, and conviniently across the street from Michigan Ave is the park. Perfect location indeed!
Ok, so there maybe a lot of photos of Carlee smiling from ear to ear- but that’s only because I’m kind of obsessed with her beautiful smile, oh- and it’s their wedding day, so smiles be had!
Oh yes, the St. Ignatius Chicago Wedding was inside the building’s Tully Hall. Sorry, I’m always bad with multiple names.
Eeek! Thank you to Foxglove Studio for making these amazing arrangements!

Kailee and Mike’s Kitchen Chicago Wedding at City View Loft was a day for the ages. Two words that describe their wedding day – beauty and style. And! Kailee wore an AMAZING Omelia BHLDN gown. The delicate lace detailing and unique shoulder draping is gorgeous. Polka dot tulle detailing is one of my favorite things.
Colorful perfection? Yes please! I am a huge fan of anything mint- from the shoes, shawl to the DIY hand-painted centerpieces.
Mike also brought along pizazz with his striped tie and dapper J. Crew suit. Stylish montage? For sure. Not to mention, awesome dance party of a reception that even had Black Dog Gelato for desert. Tasty Deliciousness.
Eeek! Kailee, your ring is beautiful.
Cocktails inspired by their kitties?! YES! Best mixology inspiring wedding idea yet. Not to mention that Buzz is the most photogenic kitty ever. (and he knows it)
I am IN LOVE and absolutely swooning over Kailee’s centerpieces. They were hand painted by her and her friends before the wedding.

John and Lily had their Chicago engagement session with us the week of their wedding as they live in Sunny and Tropical Hawaii. They wanted to have their wedding in fabulous Chicago since family is based all over the US and Canada, and Chicago makes for a great meeting point (thank you O’hare airport, we couldn’t do it without you) 🙂
I always find it wonderful when families travel for important life events, the closeness and emotion is lovely.
John and Lily met through John’s sister, with whom Lily was fast friends with back in San Diego- and the love blossomed from there. In the midst of planning their own ‘destination’ wedding of sorts from Hawaii, John was also serving our country overseas. Our favorite question for them was when we asked if/where they plan on going on their honeymoon, they simply answered ‘No, we live in Hawaii.’ So true, so true.
By the way, John has quite an excellent fashion sense, between Lily’s wedding shoe hunt for the perfect color and John’s multi-print pocket square, I cannot wait for you to see their wedding. In the meantime, here is their Chicago Engagement Session.
Chicago Beach Engagement Session
Meghan and Ben were able to look so graceful on this blustery Chicago day. Seriously, the winds just wouldn’t let up- it was nuts. But! Thanks to Meghan’s graceful step and vibrant maxi dress, the bustery day managed to look like it was all meant to be for their Chicago beach engagement session. Not to mention, the waves on the lake were huge!
We started off at a park in southern Chicago, and slowly worked our way over to the windy beach. Naturally the beach was a great choice as Meghan and Ben are getting married in Cancun this fall. With a plane full of guests headed down to Cancun for the Thanksgiving holiday. We are so excited! Festivities on day 1 and portraits on day 2. Meghan and Ben have done a bit of traveling together, from the Caribbean to Italy and lovely places in between. Low key, breezy and fun, which is exactly what Meghan and Ben’s day will be.
Last shot = my favorite. Ahhh, love a Chicago beach engagement session. Perfect wind for perfect waves.
