Jenn and Ron amaze me. Seriously- my jaw dropped when they told me that they were in a long distance relationship for over a YEAR. When Jenn suggested that we could take their engagement photos at Midway airport, I thought- of course! One could only imagine the series of emotions that went through the two of them with every departure and arrival set for Philadelphia between them. Every month, Jenn and Ron made sure to book a flight visiting one another, with most all flights going through midway- and! See the luggage they’re sporting? Indeed- it’s long distance certified. 😉
I loved all of the mini planes on a string!
And the luggage tag? Perfect touch! Goes quite well with the backside of the tag, along with the & symbol- which will go quite well with their Chicago Bulls wedding colors of Red, Black, and White.
Jenn and Ron- Thank you so much for spending the morning with us! Cannot wait to see the details at your wedding in 3 1/2 months!
It was a wonderfully warm and sunny 4th of July weekend. Janeen and Akili decided to have their wedding in Akili’s parent’s backyard, making for the perfect family and friends event. Janeen is originally from California, making for the perfect weather for a vintage California style backyard wedding. 🙂
Akili’s father is a professor, and couldn’t get enough of all of the wonderful artwork and artifacts throughout the house. Perfect spot to hang the dress!
Janeen’s mom was so sweet! I don’t think that there were any moments where she didn’t have a smile on her face. 🙂
Recycled wine and champaigne bottles? Yes please! AND- not to mention the fantastic mason jars. 🙂
See? Look at her mom’s beaming smile! Aww. Perfect! 🙂
Here’s the proof…. Let it be known that Janeen jumped higher.
The wedding cake was a rum soaked cake filled with the most delicious fruit, delicious butter, flour and sugar. It was amazing. Janeen’s mom spent all day on this family recipe.
The sunrise was amazing. Golden over the lake- casting a bright blue over the city and everything else. I don’t think we’ve ever seen Chicago in such a blue light. Perhaps its because it was just after 5am. 😉 And Megan and Jim are amazing people for being up that early with us- AND looking gorgeous so early in the morning might I add. The sun also had about 30 minutes of cloud cover after it rose, giving us a fantastic photo-op in the 7 Weeping Willows. My favorite tree- and seven of them! In downtown Chicago? Who knew?!?
Megan and Jim actually met at their friends wedding, almost 3 years ago. How perfect is that? They are set to get married later this summer at the Wilder Mansion in Elmhurst- a lovely area with a fantastic courtyard and magnificent historic house. Megan is so sweet- she asked us how we were doing in the middle of the wedding season- it’s the nurse in her. 🙂 Megan we are so excited for your wedding and to see your sisters and Jim’s brothers standing next to you two next month!
Blue cityscape AND golden sunlight? Yes please!
When Jason and I met Heidi and Eric for coffee, it felt like we knew them. There is something about them that brings back loads of memories of good times past. They are a perfect catch for each other- Heidi, you’re absolutely lovely. And Eric is so incredibly funny. 🙂 The type of person that you can grab a beer with and laugh for hours. Good humor indeed. Actually, he reminds me of my friend Dave from Boston- which those good times were always had.
We began this Chicago engagement photography session in the morning with – Heidi and Eric a nautical theme by the beach- with bunches of little boats conveniently lined up for our session. The sky was intense, I cannot get enough of the clouds this week! Perhaps it’s making up for lost time from this winter. After the beach, we headed over to the amazing Garfield Park Conservatory, located over by the Greenline. Eric actually had to head to work after the engagement session, along with the day we first met (a Sunday mind you). Given the fact that being a sports writer/commentator, you work when people play (literally). Heidi and Eric are getting married at Independence Grove in May of next year, filled with 1100 acres of photo ops. Excited about the countless possibilities! See you two next year. 🙂
These shots make me realize how much I love this city, just as Elizabeth and Brian do. Between starting the early morning off at a giant freshwater sunrise and simply walking across acres upon acres of park, playgrounds with scenic skylines, and nature- so many possibilities! I can go off track with hours of ideas and stumbling intos. Elizabeth proposed for a shoot in the Park, just over by the North Pond, which was conveniently located by a fantastic gazebo settled by quite a large flock of Canadian Geese (no worries, we excused ourselves for them to move out of our shot).
You guys were great and Elizabeth, your dress was perfect for every setting! We can’t wait to see you again in less than 5 months!
